Faith is empty

I'm the needy one, He's the rich one.
I'm the foolish one, He's the wise one.
I'm the hungry one, He's got the bread.
I'm the thirsty one, He's got the water.

Faith is empty! ... and He is full.

It's the best news in all the world,
that we only have to be empty to be saved.

I was once a 100% believer in such orthodox evangelical theology. I obtained a degree in Theology from an accredited institution, and preached almost as eloquently as this guy here. I even read some of his books.
But I was subsequently delivered from such foolishrtry.
The issue I have with Piper's theology, as hereby espoused here, is this:
It only aspires to the type of person that is almost at a point of suicide! Should I kill myself today or..... tomorrow?
Hey........... WHY NOT SKIP THAT WHOLE THING AND ACCEPT JESUS INTO MY LIFE?
Great.
But what about the guy that is seriously successful? Has a great marriage. A terrific, hot wife. Great, well-adjusted kids.
Two SUV's crammed into his double-garage and a BMW in the driveway. Is this guy doomed to hell until he realizes that he is a brain-dead NOTHING before an Almighty God? He has to grovel? Confess his utter empty uselessness before God will be able to grant him the "free" gift of salvation?
Could any valid Deity be that capricious? That needy? That lacking in self-esteem that He needs to sap us so grandly of ours?
